Ear Piercings – Multiple Ear Piercings Inspiration For Curating Your Ear
The jewellery trend that has occupied centre stage for the last couple of years are multiple earrings with the spotlight shining brightly on the “curated ear.” The curated ear is a selected and organised method of combining different types of earrings, from standard studs to huggies to threaders to ear cuffs and many more. Multiple piercings is a look that’s accessible to everyone, regardless of age, budget or profession. As a professional woman in my late 40’s with an wonderful eclectic mix of friends and work colleagues, I believe that multiple ear piercings worn in the right way are not just for the young, but can look chic, stylish into your 40’s, 50s and far beyond.
I truly support the notion that personal style has absolutely nothing to do with ones age but more about attitude and confidence, and even more so when it comes to expressing ourselves with jewellery. So, you might not be strutting your stuff on a beach in a teeny tiny yellow dot bikini in your 40s and 50s (I salute you if you do!) but to express yourself through your choice of jewellery is an easy and understated way to create a more youthful vibe. It’s never too late to update your look when it comes to jewellery.
As we have established ear jewellery in recent years has become more plentiful and has allowed us to experiment with different styles of piercings. A simple pair of studs no longer seems to be enough, which explains the rise in the search term “piercing ear constellation”. Its a term I have fallen in love with, the idea of a constellation ear, much like the star-scapes it’s named after, is to create a scattering of awe and wonder across the ear.
What is the next big trend for piercings?
We will continue to see a minimalist style of earring but for the more adventurous lady we will see large gemstones/designs in unusual combinations. A dainty look is still going strong but we, as a whole are getting more confident about ear piercings and that is leading us towards a more evocative, luxe layered, bold, stacked look, with additional smaller accents to finish.
Which piercings are best to create a unique ear style?
When it comes to creating your very own curated ear, it’s a very personal process…and no doubt will differ from week to week depending on your vibe. However, your natural inner style, will empower you to create a unique look just for you. Be bold and experiment with different studs, hoops, threaders, cuffs and dangles, and master the art of stacking and layering.
What type of jewellery should you buy for a curated ear?
When it comes to decorating your multiple piercings with jewellery, your options are almost limitless. You can try just about anything, from wearing multiple huggies with diamond charms, from your Helix all the way down to your lower lobe, to studs in all your piercing holes, by mixing and matching and playing with different shapes and sizes….This is what makes it’s so personal and tailored to you and your style.

What has led to the rise of multiple piercings?
The increase of social media and the ease in which to share images, has enabled us to see what’s available and the different styles of earrings we can now get pierced with are cooler than ever before.
The perception of piercings has also changed – through having it as Fine Jewellery and not as a membership in some form of a subculture club. Today’s piercing has become a symbol of confidence, style and luxury. Think of it as unique as your own fingerprint.
What is the most popular area for piercings ?
The lower earlobe is still amongst the most popular piercing, as it is versatile, and most common. The most popular non- lobe positions are Helix and Tragus. The second hole lobe piercing is still a popular traditional earlobe piercing, which also, pleasantly, is quick to heal. The second hole lobe piercing, is placed slightly above the first hole and creates a flattering artistic accent, which gives you many more options for piercing combinations.
What earrings are proving the most popular?
Hoops and huggies will always have a special place in everyone’s hearts, but it’s not necessarily the best thing to start with, as these can catch and move around. Dainty designs made up of gold, diamonds set in different collets are delightful when piercing your ears for the first time.
Our crescent diamond studs is a fast seller as they sit comfortably in the Helix & Lobe position and go beautifully with anything, not to mention our seven diamond flower stud which is also in our top sellers list and most popular styles.
